Eliza is a communications and PR professional with over 20 years working in large and complex organizations in the communications, engagement, HR management, and customer service fields. As a member of the LGBTQ community, she is passionate about engaging in initiatives that promote fair, inclusive, and supportive environments for all, which led to her interest in the PostgreSQL community. She has been involved in the community since 2020 and is a member of the PostgreSQL Code of Conduct Committee. Eliza is Australian, grew up in France, and currently works in the public sector in Ontario, Canada, leading communications and advocacy functions.
PostgreSQL has a dedicated following of passionate professionals, but it is above all a community that appeals to a wide range of people outside the tech industry. This talk will look at ways that the PostgreSQL’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) sets it apart from others in the industry, ways in which PostgreSQL professionals can expand the reach of the community beyond the target tech audience, and communication, engagement and PR strategies that work with a DEI lens to broaden the scope of the PostgreSQL appeal.
